Walking tips
As always you have to decide for yourself what you take for each walk, and as you get more experience this task will become easier. See our guidelines below.
Social Walks
Usually on flat ground, at a measured pace and aiming to keep the group members together and interacting with each other. You will need:
- Walking shoes
- Raincoat
- Warm clothes, gloves, hat, scarf
- A torch if it may be needed
- A drink to stay hydrated
Fitness
Push a little harder and walk or jug at a demanding pace. Join your health life with experiencing nature.
Guided Walks
Can be anywhere, and often involves rougher surfaces, inclines and off the beaten track destinations. You need to be fit to manage the needs of the location. You will need:
- Walking shoes
- Raincoat and dry trousers
- Warm clothes, gloves, hat, scarf
- A torch if it may be needed
- A drink to stay hydrated
- A mobile phone or other means of calling for rescue
- Navigation tools
Warmups and stretches
Be sure to prepare your muscles before large expenditure of energy with these simple exercises.
